I love all of the possibilities available in Family Photography. You get to capture and freeze so many details, like how tall siblings are compared to each other at a moment in time or even how many siblings there actually are in a particular year as a new member may not be born yet. You can see bonds certain members may have that particular year. I know my oldest and middle child were absolute best friends in their younger years. My oldest is in middle school now, though, and she is not nearly as interested in hanging out with her younger brother. As a military family, I like how our family pictures showcase where we are living in a particular year. My personal favorite family portrait right now is of my family at a beautiful little beach we came across while exploring our current home when we first moved here. I knew right away we would be using that location for a photo, and every time I look at it I am reminded of the evening we found it and my kids all had a blast skipping rocks against a colorful sunset.
This sweet family used a beach close to home and it was the perfect setting for them to pose and play. I like to do a mix of posed portraits along with some lifestyle shots for every Family Session, hopefully creating a gallery for my clients that has something that appeals to everyone. This family did a great job of posing dutifully using my prompts, and then bringing out some ideas of their own and just getting into it. We had a great time and captured some beautiful images!
